Physio-Control is a medical device company based in Redmond Wa. Kiah worked there for two summers first as an Operation intern then as the Mechanical Engineering Intern. As the ME Intern she was responsible for developing a testing device, and protocol to test the durability of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) against vibration. Kiah designed and developed the test fixture then administered vibration testing on PCBAs using a vibration table and accelerometers. The test results were analyzed and Kiah was able to draw conclusions on future vibration testing of PCBAs. Technical skills utilized:
As the Operations intern, Kiah was responsible for developing a value stream map of the entire product life cycle. She collected data on all the processes and developed a large scale map calculating lead times of the product. Focusing on long lead time processes she implemented process changes and was able to decrease process lead time by 50%. Skills utilized:
